CIC assists
St. Louis, Missouri - Refugee Mental
Health System.
CIC is working with the City of St. Louis
mental health authority in designing, funding, and assessing
a system of mental health care designed to meet the unique
needs of recent immigrants and refugees. Using funding CIC
has assisted in obtaining from the U.S. Office for Refugee
Resettlement, a regional foundation, and local matching
funds, our staff is working with a mental health collaborative
to develop a formalized system of care, expanded capacity,
and an impact assessment model for delivering mental health
and substance abuse treatment to new Americans in the St.
Louis area. |

Empowering
Parents of Children with Disabilities in Central Florida
CIC is working with parent groups in the Orlando region
to empower parents of children with disabilities who are
also English language learners. A regional initiative is
designed to teach parents self-advocacy skills as well as
provide detailed instruction in the resources available
to their children under IDEA and No Child Left Behind. The
parent center services will seek to coordinate resources
available through the educational system with those provided
through Florida’s Home and Community-Based Waiver
system as well as other resources required under Florida’s
META Consent decree.
Strategic Planning and Systems Change in Kansas
City, Missouri.
CIC is working with a mill taxing entity in the Kansas
City area on a strategic plan involving a thorough re-assessment
of how the Agency sees itself and its mission. Included
will be an analysis of several of the Agency’s operational
units, as well as looking at ways the Agency might have
a greater impact in serving its primary consumers. |
